It would be more than a minor inconvenience here in Michigan.

Good plan. They are the interlopers; let the burden fall on them, not Americans. We should do the same with Spanish.

Typical idiotic government.
We have a specific problem (illegals) and they implement a general law that makes it worse by by wasting law enforcement resources on something that's not a problem at all (Canadian tourists).

Since the upper half of the Canadian head flies up when they talk (thus hindering proper vision) it is easier and more profitable to require permits than require they don’t talk while driving.

This is not news for non-us citizens driving in the USA. (non commercial)

There is a multilateral treaty where you have a permit document, with your picture affixed, you carry with your standard DL. It is good in most countries AS LONG AS you have a valid DL in place of origin.

This is moure about selling CAA memberships.

AAA membership gets you the permit document for free. (AND pictures if you have an enhanced membership.)

Kinda stupid as from what I’ve heard an IDP is FAR easier to get than their Provincial license back home. (I’m told in some countries it’s as simple as paying the proper bribe to the proper hack official)

any business would do the practical common sense thing and exclude the canadians.

the govt. can not do this or the Mexicans will cry foul.

Government can not do anything that is practical or common sense.

Most Canadians from the eastern provinces prefer Florida.
Last winter I spent a few days visiting Yuma Arizona ... every other license plate was Alberta (most prevalent) or British Columbia. In Florida Quebec, Ontario and New Brunswick are the most common Canadian plates.

I see this as a minor inconvenience but it could trip people up <<

I see it as a $25 extortion fee!!...Whats next...$25 out of state licensing fees?

Tons of Canadians winter in Fla....most with big ol honking RV’s..If they decide to go somewhere else it will be a net loss for Fla...Big time!

I spend a couple of weeks in Florida every winter. While there I’m amazed to see that half the cars have Ontario plates and a quarter have Quebec plates.Last month I even saw a couple of Alberta plates.Tourism is the most important part of the state’s economy and Canadians play a big role in that. What an absolutely foolish law.

I get an Intl Driver License whenever I go to Europe...just to be safe

It is just a document that translates someone’s DL into many languages

In FL there are tourists from everywhere....and the LEO in Orlando area are familiar with English, Spanish, and Hatian Creole. Not so familiar with Papiamento or Icelandic

Added benefit is that this law will help catch Illegal Alien drivers....until La Raza or Marco Rubio starts calling the law racist

Does the international permit for Canadians have a section where they have to acknowledge that turn blinkers have an “off” position?

Canadians...just tell them you sneaked across the Mexican border and they’ll give you a chauffeur and sign you up for Medicaid. Might even get a ‘key’ to several cities. You can be a hero!

Canadians should be easy to spot in Florida.

They are the ones driving between the lines, signaling their turns and driving below the posted speed limit.

Canadian drivers’ licences are issued by the provincial ministry of transport as well as auto regisration.

Its not that much different from American state drivers’ licensing and Canadian drivers’ licences are valid in the US.
