I would caution to differentiate those who question police tactics in this or any case from a Constitutional, ethical, due process or plain common sense approach as opposed to those who are, with varying degrees of virulence, reflexively anti-authority/anti-police. The former are concerned as we all should be that the right things are done, the right way and for the right reasons.

The latter tend to throw around pejoratives like “badge licker”. This forum is littered with posts promising or promoting violence against police in response to sparsely reported cases or entirely dreamt up scenarios. This is neither helpful nor informative. Unfortunately these are endemic at FR.

The hand of the law should rest as lightly as possible on us consistent with maintaining peace, protecting property rights and defending the vulnerable. There is plenty of room for debate as to where that line lies. Law enforcement must always be under the firm control of representative civil authority. Citizens at large and, most urgently the police themselves must continuously ask themselves if their actions and tactics conform to and advance liberty, justice and Constitutional fidelity.

Seen that too SargeK.
Neither extreme is helpful as you said.

But to claim “Oh, support for Dorner is not there!” is to stick ones head in the sand on this one.
And there are posters trying to claim such.
