Billionaire businessman Donald Trump has nothing but praise for the tea party.

“I am a Republican, but I believe strongly in the tea party — and I love the people of the tea party,” Trump told WPTV-News Channel 5 on Thursday during the Palm Beach County Republican Lincoln Day Dinner. “I love many of the things they represent — and you know what? They love me...

Palin gave us Ted Cruz

Mark Levin worked hard for him too

But support him, and let him support us.

Absolutely. Trump is not perfect, but he is one of the good guys.

No question that Levin and others helped him, but Ted Cruz credits Palin’s support for his becoming a Senator.

Ted Cruz credits Palin’s support for his becoming a Senator.

And the 2010 Conservative victory as well but what is Sarah Palin doing and saying about her position in the Tea Party while Donald Trump has spent nearly a year now claiming to be the Tea Party's chosen leader? That question is basically the whole issue we're talking about.

In 2012 and now when the average American think of the Tea Party they think of Newt Gingrich and Donald Trump. I'm not saying that's a good or bad thing but it's reality. Mitt Romney was not a Tea Party favorite.

You cant down a man for jumping for an open opportunity. The very fact that the opportunity was actually open for someone to take already shows a lack of leadership.

I supported Ronald Reagan but I never thought that because of my support that automatically made me entitled to be the leader of the conservative movement.

What’s gonna mean the most?
When you your time here is through
It’s who matters most to you…

Let me assure you, The Donald’s last words won’t be `tumblindice’ and mine won’t be `donald/rosebud’.
We need this guy like leprosy.

There is a need for a common set of principles that the TEA party espouses as its core principles.

Where does one go to get those core principles unless there has been some organization that promulgates them?

How about a TEA Party Gathering of the Clans, with each Clan sending representatives to meet for bonding and drafting based on the core principles? We could develop general principles and an overall organizational structure.

We could have an organization established according to the basic political units of each state/county.

We could have representatives from all walks of American life in addition to the basic political units - a finance committee, a self-defense committee, a regulation review committee, an intelligence and information committee, a tax committee, a trade committee, an energy committee, a national defense committee, a health committee, a data storage and processing committee, a manufacturing committee, a natural resources development committee, an international relations committee, an elections fairness committee, an education committee, a leadership and public awareness committee, and most importantly, a committee to present relevant history to the people.

I guess I am saying we should establish a shadow government that could step in and support any president that we promote.

It is time to start cutting some Gordian Knots. It is decision time now, before the internecine conflict tears us apart.

I recommend that some Texas Freepers recommend a good site in the Republic of Texas for the location.

I have hated and applauded Trump in the past. Right now, I’m luke warm, although his attack on Karl Rove is improving his standing. I might actually vote for the guy if he wanted a senate seat or something similar. Now that would be a spectacle.

In 2012 and now when the average American think of the Tea Party they think of Newt Gingrich and Donald Trump.

This is the first that I have heard of that, I figured that Sarah Palin was the face of the tea party to the general public, with people like Rand Paul lately, Michelle Bachmann, and some others, but I did not know about Gingrich and Trump being thought of as anything other than politicians who step in to rub shoulders with them occasionally for some sound bites, or photo op.

Are you sure about those two being the face of the tea party to the national public?

I definitely meant to put Ted Cruz on that list, isn’t he strongly recognized as a tea party politician to the public?

I beg to differ.
Tx gave us Ted Cruz.
I myself voted for him 3 times, and it was not because of Sarah or The Donald.

Here in Tx we will be watching Mr Cruz for any signs of Potomac Fever.

I think Mr Trump would be very susceptible to that malady.

I wrote this at the link so here it goes again:
The bottom line is that the tea party has a blend of different voices who were originally connected by overspending in Washington which they wanted to lower and fix. Overtime they have began to morph into different directions with people disagreeing on direction.

Therein lies the problem too many factions of people agreed on basic principals, but they don’t on everything else. Conservatives, Libertarians, some fiscally minded former democrats and even independent minded people joined the movement. They have a hard time choosing candidates.

My ideal candidate would embolden qualities of different people within the tea party.

You can beg all you want, but you need to beg Ted Cruz, not me, it is him who credits his win to Governor Palin.

Trump isn’t conservative, he is a self serving promoter, who is probably closer to a social liberal, or “libertarian”.

Conservatives will always differ from liberals, whether they call themselves libertarians or whatever.

Conservatives are the largest portion of the tea party.
