Cops who smell marijuana coming from your home can break down your door and arrest you, just as long as they knock first and claim to have heard you destroying evidence. They don’t need a warrant or probable cause, either. Today in America, police can now randomly patrol neighborhoods and apartment complexes sniffing around for pot. When they smell it, they can knock on your door and then break it down, claiming they heard noises from within. You don’t have to be a pot smoker to appreciate where this is going. The coming police state was furnished by the drug war. Where these potheads really worth sacrificing The Republic for?

No, they don't.
I know there were a couple stories on FR about an apartment complex where such things were done, but by and large (real large), law enforcement doesn't roll around neighborhoods with their heads stuck out the windows sniffing for some guy or gal smoking a blunt in their garage or out back of their property.
Marijuana use is more of a nuisance for law enforcement by those who wish to taunt LEO's. And if you are "caught" under the influence, the LEO is most likely doing you a favor at that point; you shouldn't have been out in public messed up in the first place.
