Bill Buckley specifically used the phrase, "rightwardmost viable candidate", not electable.

We did have a couple of these available in 2012 and IMHO Newt was the best of those running. And like supporting Goldwater in 1964, it didn't necessarily mean that they would win in the general election, but neither would they run from the conservative cause.
