My Direct TV just went out due to heavy rain. So that sometimes can be a good thing.

You shouldn’t lose your DTV signal in heavy rain unless it is not correctly peaked.

Over the years, the dish might sag due to where it’s mounted, or the mounting bolts and hardware might come lose, but a correctly mounted dish should keep a watchable signal in heavy rain.

You can also go with a slightly larger dish as well. (24” dish compared to the smaller DTV dish.)
