What i am advocating is that we start thinking smart, politically smart.
If speaking Spanish once in a while, to get a new audience, not replacing English, gets us some traction where we don't have it lets do it.
If we don't engage in better political strategy and, keep doing what we have been doing we will keep losing.
First you say you are not advocating it, and then you go on to give reason for it. We just disagree. Phrases like “politically smart” in my mind are just excuses people give for lowering their principles.
I have no problem teaching English to people that want to come here. I just find it absurd to conduct any government business in a foreign language.
To vote in this country you must be a citizen. To be a citizen you must speak our nation’s language.
In my opinion there is absolutely no need or justification for any government form to be in any language other then English. No exceptions.
Advertisers and other folks can do whatever they want in any language. I just feel that government business, including elections and politics, should never be in any language other than the language our voting citizens must speak.
