Two San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies have been shot while pursuing a carjacking and home-invasion suspect in the Angelus Oaks area of Big Bear.
A law enforcement source confirms to the Associated Press that the assailant is triple-murder suspect Christopher Dorner, who is said to be heavily armed in engaging in gunfire with authorities.
Repeated gunshots could be heard on Glass Road west of 7 Oaks just after 1:30 p.m. and officials requested an armored vehicle to help remove several injured deputies from the scene. A SWAT team was also called in to set up a perimeter of the area. KCAL9′s Carter Evans, who was reporting nearby, is safe despite loud gunfire that could be heard during his live report.
The earlier incident at a home in the 1200 block of Club View Road, which is located near Highway 38 and Glass Road, was reported around 12:20 p.m. The suspect reportedly tied up a couple and stole their 2008 four-door, white Dodge 4X4 truck, which is registered to nearby Camp Tahquitz. One of the victims was able to escape and alert authorities.

The cops are opening car doors and searching cars coming and going from the area. Was some sort of martial law declared bypassing the 4th Amendment? Maybe the the first officer is getting consent to search?

If he is shooting it out with cops, then his death by cop is a decent result. If he were to be killed in the manner the LAPD cops shot up the newspaper delivery truck, then the precedent is horribly frightening. That would have been assassination without due process. If he dies in a shootout trying to elude police, then he, by that choice, is eliminating the chance for due process because he has made it impossible for police to apprehend him.
No matter how evil a perp is, there is no justification to violate the Constitution “just to get this one”.
I looked up the location of the camp that a vehicle was associated with. Sounds like Dorner is still in Big Bear, no big traipse over the ridge.
I suspect the Drone over Dorner is equipped with small arms so that the killing round (wherever it comes from) can be either anonymous or Obama can claim the glory if his political pollsters say it helps or provides credible deniability if they say it won't.
