"I mean, it's horrible. There's no running water. There's no power. They are having to use the restroom in buckets and bags."
"It's like a bunch of savages on there," he added. "If you get on the blogs, they're saying that people are fighting over food and stuff."
Toby Barlow told CNN that his wife, Ann, a passenger on the ship, texted that the plumbing failed and people were defecating in bags and urinating in showers.
She also told him there's "sewage running down the walls and floors," he said.

Carnival is the Chuck-E-Cheese of the high seas.
I advised my coworker to honeymoon on Royal Caribbean instead. They did & we have been invited to their house many times since.
That wuz quick ...
I heard this AM that two tugboats are on the way, and should arrive by THURSDAY!
Everyone on board is going to be sick.
Cruises suck.
So the part of the story that says full refund and another free cruise in the future is bogus?

At least it is obvious to ME that my comment was sarcastic.
I didn’t bother reading ‘below the fold’ because the lead in was so well written and presented and answered most questions.
(that also is sarcasm - looks like something an 8 yo would write, just missing a few ‘ya knows’ and ‘likes’).
Just got back from a wonderful 7 day cruise on Royal Caribbean. There were Purell stations EVERYWHERE, and you weren’t even allowed in a dining area without using one. The captain announced that staff and crew were no longer shaking hands with passengers and there was a video running on TV showing the proper way to sanitize your hands with Purell.
My main thought was that I wished I were the Purell salesman!
We didn’t get sick and had an incredible experience.
Zombies! A prelude to zombies with class in the near future (bond collapse, pension cuts, market collapse, government layoffs, etc.).
Yes, transferring food and water between ships presents minimal risk. If you drop a load of food into the drink, it's no big deal. Dropping a passenger in is a whole different story.
Yeah, I went on Carnival once, never again.
No, I assumed you had insider knowledge of the contracts.
I’ve been on a lot of cruises but never read the “fine print”.
I believe they haven’t evacuated them because an accident may happen on one of the lifeboats. Those boats are far up and not used very often. There was an incident a week ago in Malta where 8 crew were doing a lifeboat drill at the dock in calm water. The boat fell, killing 5.

Ah, I see the ‘cornfusion’....
I just reread and that SHOULD have been “UNLESS YOU REMAIN ABOARD”
Sorry about that....(and I scoffed at ‘their editing - or lack of’ <: <: <:)
Interesting comment.
I’ve been on several cruises on both Carnival and RC and would definitely rate Carnival as better, especially the grub.
Both are competitors in the “mass market” of cruises.
Welcome to Carnival Cruise Lines.
Tonight’s special will be:
Cryptosporidium and Giardia
Gram Negative Bacteria
Hepatitis A
Leptospirosis
Tenanus
along with a nightcap of raw sewage running down the walls. Enjoy!
Now that's class...LOL
Yes, then every neighborhood in the U.S. will be just like that poor ship!
No they don't do that - and I didn't say they did - but there IS a group-think within the MSM. And it tends to run along political lines. Here's some examples: Walmart. Tea Party. Occupy. NOW. NRA. Liberal whistle blowers. Conservative whistle blowers. Democrats. Republicans. Oil Companies. Natural Food Stores. The "Arts'. Gays. Cops. Military. Green Energy, College Professors. Businessmen. ...
With few exceptions the MSM finds these groups GOOD: Occupy NOW Liberal whistle blowers, Democrats Natural Food Stores, Target, the Arts, NOW, Occupy, Green energy, Gays, and College Professors, Unions.
With few exceptions the MSM finds these groups BAD: Tea Party, conservative whistle blowers, NRA, Republicans, Oil Companies, Cops, the Military, Businessmen, Walmart...
The groups the MSM likes just happen to be groups that support Democrats - with people and money. I don't believe anyone in a newsroom looks up what the contributions are or arn't, but most people have an idea which groups tend liberal and which tend conservative. The MSM favors the one's who tend liberal.
If you think otherwise - please give me some examples. Facts work better than 'attitude'...

Which, of course, are geared towards union labor and overweening government nanniness which drive up the costs to the point that most of these people wouldn't be taking a cruise. There's a reason there aren't any lines with American-crewed ships.
There are some good ones, though. Holland-America and Cunard aren't bad, for example.
I remember my sister's first cruise in the eighties. She was so looking forward to it. It was Carnival. She's a foodie -- described it as a giant Shoney's with an ocean view.
It is being towed to Mobile AL.
