The world's most expensive photograph sold for $4.3 million dollars.
The photo was heavily photoshopped to remove people in the foreground and buildings from the background but the photographer (Gursky) told the critics what they wanted to hear. He told them that even removing the people and buildings he couldn't disguise the constraints that mankind has placed on the rivers of the world.

I thought you were just kidding about that picture so I looked it up. Wow. All I can say is that it’s a pretty bland picture to be worth so much. Either I don’t have much of an artist’s eye or somebody got ripped off.
