In the Greek text of Matthew 5.5, the Greek word is the plural of praos which means mild, soft, gentle, or meek. It can be used of horses (gentle) or animals (tame). The same Greek word is used in the Septuagint translation of Numbers 12.3.

Yes. A tame German Shepard dog is one who will not behave aggressively towards the family which owns him. This does not mean it won't rip the face off a home invader. This is my point. The dog in the above case is "meek".
