New Orleans has some great food, amazing architecture, good music and it can all be done staying well outside of the crime ridden areas.

And the writer of the article is not being truthful when he says that Amelia St is on a parade route.

This is true. I'm in New Orleans probably a dozen times a year. I rarely stay downtown or in the Quarter, but I do manage to eat BBQ oysters at Drago’s every visit. Still, the city is a hell hole, and it has the absolute worst airport in the country.

Is the city forcing the Krewe of Zulu to follow the printed route these days? I thought Amelia St. might be one of the traditional "detours".
