Have you heard of Electronic Frontier Foundation before? I was looking at some of there other stories and found they defended DU in Righthaven v. Democratic Underground. Is this just a free speech issue or a political leaning?

The EFF has no political affiliation. Their agenda is to support technology innovation and consumer rights against government and corporate pressures, and to defend privacy and free speech when these are threatened by the misuse of technology. The sad fact is that most of the threats to these freedoms come from the government these days, and the EFF spends a good deal of their time arguing against FCC regulations, warrantless wiretaps, and attempts to regulate the Internet.

Most organizations which start out well tend to be subverted from their initial purpose in time, but so far I find the EFF still well worth supporting.
