PHOENIX -- A Valley teen died Friday after he allegedly broke into a Phoenix residence and was shot by the homeowner.
Phoenix Police said a man returned to his home in the area of 7500 W. Weldon late Friday morning to discover that his carport door was open.
The homeowner entered through his front door and discovered that his house had been ransacked.
As he entered the house, two suspects ran out the carport door. Two more suspects then ran from the bedroom area of the home, with one of the men, later identified as 16-year-old Mario Barcenas, reportedly running at the homeowner.
The homeowner was carrying a handgun at the time and shot Barcenas with one round.
The police were called to the home and Barcenas was taken to the hospital where he eventually died.
Police are still investigating the case, but said it appears as if the homeowner was acting in self-defense. No charges have currently been filed.
The three other suspects in the case have yet to be located.
Allegedly?? If the homeowner didn't invited the THUG in... the THUG BROKE IN...
It appears Barcenas was larcenous.
Larceny can be caused by a diet deficient in trace heavy metals.
The home owner correctly diagnosed the issue and injected sufficient copper and lead.
Due to patient aversion to injections, the three other patients could not be treated.
But doesn't this prove no one "needs" high capacity mags?
Do I really need a /s tag?
The media always say “teen” when they want us to have sympathy. Teen goes from 13 - 19. 18 and 19 is legally adult.
“Allegedly??”
That just means the reporter heard it from someone or imagined it.
Seems like the homeowner should have kept his big mouth shut. If he wasn’t read his Miranda rights prior to him making them, they may not be admissible in trial.
This is a rough part of Phoenix...lots of gang activity there, low rent, mean streets.

The sooner these kind get killed the better the world is. Don’t feel sorry for the parents, they raised him to become this.
Allegedly.
Yep.
After what he did, his only real option would have been to deep-six the corpora delicti, decommission his security system and destroy all its recordings after a date comfortably in the past, and keep his mouth shut when the cops came around looking for the missing persons (their car was found parked in the neighborhood).
Apparently, the house is near enough to El Oso Park that a couple of teens in the park heard the shot.
I doubt it will take much work to track down the other three now that they know this guy’s ID. The pack is probably well known (and feared) in their ‘hood.
No, his only intelligent option would be to tell the police that what happened really shook him up and he wanted to talk to his attorney. After a shooting incident, you should NEVER talk to the coppers...they are NOT your friend in these situations.
The advice I have received in several advanced firearms classes is, “do not chit-chat with the poooolice after a shooting incident”. Remember, every bullet that comes out of the barrel has a lawyer attached to it.
No, he is allegedly daid. Pining for the fajitas.
He has ceased to be! ‘E’s expired and gone to meet ‘is maker! ‘E’s a stiff! Bereft of life, ‘e rests in peace! ‘Is metabolic processes are now ‘istory! ‘E’s off the twig! ‘E’s kicked the bucket, ‘e’s shuffled off ‘is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin’ choir invisibile!!
THIS IS AN EX PERP!
“Dont feel sorry for the parents, they raised him to become this.”
Maybe, maybe not. Some kids just go bad.
