I was involved with getting the temporary facility to house USLO in Riyadh and worked with the architects, CRS, that built our Embassy in the DQ. Subsequently, I served five years in Riyadh at the Embassy. I was there during the entire Gulf War--Desert Shield/Storm. Brennan was in Riyadh in 1996 after I left.
I’m sure we have from mutual acquaintances. One very good pal was the OIC of our operation in Riyadh. He was a retired US Army WO. I only got to Riyadh twice during my tour. The best thing you can say about Riyadh is that it makes Jeddah look acceptable. I worked for two COS 1980-1982.the last time I saw the latter one was at HQS in, IIRC, 1985. He was on his way to the hill; he was going to testify before congress. He was Chief of the Central American Task Force at the time.
