So the Optics and Narrative are being set. If they thought he had a "rocket launcher" we would have learned that a long time ago, but now.....they need to add that "icky" feeling to this story.

Here's a f*****G narrative for them. One dude with a little training has outsmarted 3 states (or more) and 2 countries (US & Mexico) and has every law enforcement person in said states, scared sh*tless? Yeah, I start changing the "narrative" and "optics" too with and get it off the facts of the case (there is a whole lot of wrong all up in this story to go around, so I aint picking sides) but to drop the "...he might have one of those "icky" weapons" is total amateur hour PR.

He is the one that said he had the weapons in his manifesto. Whether he does or not, it is another element to his plan to scare the LAPD. It seems as if mentioning would preclude having them, but all bets are off on this one.
