America Gives Up
The American Thinker ^ | Feb 8, 2013 | Stella Paul

The other day, I learned that President Obama has canceled our Mars Rover explorations, along with all other planetary missions. NASA's science mission chief just quit in disgust, and who can blame him? Apparently, even robots' lives are too precious for us to risk these days, so America is giving up the thrill of discovering space.

While I was stewing over the news that the Russians will now take over our Mars missions (the Red Planet is turning that kind of Red), I decided to relax by watching the Super Bowl -- just in time to see the lights blow out.

It's getting humiliating to be American; don't you think? The only thing we're Number One at anymore is embarrassing ourselves in front of the world. Once upon a time, we were admired as Can-Do America; now we can't even manage to keep on the lights.

Here's a quick list of some things we're giving up these days, with little more than a shrug: Making babies (lowest birth rate since 1920). The Constitution. Hostess Twinkies (though there's a ray of hope for them). And the natural order of the sexes.

That last remark could refer to a thousand things, but I'm specifically thinking of the madcap decision to send women into combat. Who's going to fight to the death to protect the home front when the hottest girls are in the next bunk?

it only makes sense to send co-eds to fight if you've already given up on the concept of victory, which, in case you haven't noticed, we most definitely have.

Remember when Obama said on TV, chuckling in an ironic-David-Letterman-kind-of-way, that he was "always worried about using the word 'victory,' because, you know, it invokes this notion of Emperor Hirohito coming down and signing a surrender to MacArthur"?

We are living the results of Affirmative Action. And it’s just getting started. Hang on.

We won’t need Death Panels when all the Doctors will be Affirmative Action appointees.

“... we would elect Hilary Clinton over any Republican for president right now.”

Only a third world war or other catastrophic situation has any chance of saving this country now. The sooner the better the American chance of recovering.

If nothing happens between now and 2016 then we get even more of the same.

Obama is lowering America down to his level, and he will go as low as necessary.

America hasn’t given up. The president elected by millions with their head up their a$$ gave up.

I disagree. Americans proved in November they either choose national decline or were so apathetic that decline didn't matter to them. If Americans cared, there'd be much more of an outrage over the regime's positions on killing our fellow citizens with Hellfire missiles, the cessation of the manned space program, gun control, federal spending, unemployment, homo "rights," abortion, etc.

Conservatives care about those issues, but the numbers long ago tipped against us. The majority has become Euro in its thinking... a surrender of America's greatness in favor of an unearned government check.

I think the loss of Twinkies is a lot more important. The thrill of seeing my tax dollars support a bunch of nerds who can't or don't want to get a job in the real world has worn kind of thin.

The space program has repeatedly shown at great expense that Mars consists of rocks and dirt. In fact anyone familiar with the periodic table could have predicted that. Distance from the earth does not change how the elements join to each other. In fact I'll go so far as to say any extrasolar planets thousands of light years away will also consist of rocks and dirt.

All you folks who sat at home and didn’t vote for Mitt—hope you feel happy now, All of you who cast your vote for Obama I hope you are pleased with the way things are turning around—They aint. They bought your vote and non-vote with a few lies, give aways, and glitzy commercials. Lets see what these nut jobs will do in two years? I fear that the USA is setting itself up for a new cyber Pearl Harbor. Our enemies know we are weak—now is the time to strike. America will fold up like a house of cards if any of their perks are threatened. If I was China, I would start to invade neighbors—Heck I would invade Japan and haul their factories to the Yangzi. South Korea Too. Then set my sights on India. What would or can, Obama do? Run to the UN is it. Think the rape of Nanjing was bad? Wait for the rape of Kyoto. The Chinese have long memories. In Europe, same thing, If I was Russia—I would start to re-build my empire, invade Belarus, and the Ukraine—Move on to Poland and Baltic states. What will the EU do? Zip-—What will nato do Zip. A weak America invites a redrawing of the world map. Maybe this was why the founders didn’t give votes to women?
