Authorities in Big Bear have spotted fresh tracks believed to be those of a fugitive ex-Los Angeles police officer wanted in connection with a series of shootings and are combing the area for him, a Fire Department official told The Times.
Big Bear Lake Fire Department Asst. Chief Mark Mills also said the burning pickup discovered on a forest road has been linked to Christopher Jordan Dorner, 33, sought in connection with a series of shootings that have left three people dead and two wounded.
TV helicopters showed the pickup being readied to be towed from the scene.
The truck was discovered hours into an intensive manhunt for Dorner that spanned Southern California. Although sources said there had been multiple reported sightings of Dorner's truck in the Big Bear area on Thursday, the burnt truck was too badly charred to immediately confirm it was his.
Meanwhile, the mountain community locked down schools and closed the nearby Bear Mountain Resort as a fatigue-clad SWAT team walked through the woods, rifles drawn.
Sean Jacques, director of loss prevention for Big Bear Mountain Resorts, said that after the burning truck was discovered on a forest service road, local law enforcement told resort officials to keep an eye out for Dorner and provided a description of the suspect.

He said that he did in his opus. I don't have reason to doubt him.

The guy is nuts....for whatever reasons.
He's a LIBERAL LYING DEMOCRAT....obsessed with RACE.
I rest my case
Whats your problem man? take a chill pill or have a drink dude
That's one of the funny parts. He says O is one of his favorite presidents but also claims he didn't vote because he wanted to vote for... wait for it.. Huntsman (yea, he really was nuts).
I'll remain sceptical until it's proven he doesn't have a .50.
He's also proven fairly competent at taking out stated targets and NOT getting caught, so far.

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants-TJ. This quote is not directed toward the US government which I fully support 100%.
The lib media loves to stoke fear of anti-government types but here we have a killer of the pro-government variety. Gonna be interesting to see what they do with this.
As with the Unibomber, liberals will find much to agree with in his manifesto. Has anyone checked on what they're saying about it at DU and KOS?
He lost his house in Las Vegas in December last year.
He was kicked of the Navy reserve on Feb 1
Local Radio reports
Wait, is that really the truck the cops shot up because they were confused with his truck? The truck on fire appeared to be a Ford extended cab. This is a Toyota Tacoma. Are they that dumb?
Only if Plan A is objectively better. A lone plotter cannot ensure that. Besides, there are millions of scenarios where the operator went out to work on Plan A and then some unforeseen circumstance happened (say, a mouse chewed through the power cable and the site is now full of utility workers and police and fire.)
What part of plan B would require *burning* a truck? In wilderness you can park a truck away from the road and it won't be found for a long time. Burning of the truck says he wants to attract attention. Perhaps because he is out of his mind, or perhaps because he wants the police to focus on a throwaway item that is no longer useful to him. Knowing the police procedure, he is sure that hundreds of officers will be milling around for hours, with no apparent purpose. If he has a hideout prepared ahead of time, that hideout may be never found. In World War II some underground hideouts were so good that you couldn't find them even when you know where they are - and that is on a grassy soil. A rocky terrain makes accidental discovery of a hideout practically impossible.
This guy didn't just snap - he had time to write his Manifesto, which is a very lengthy document. I think he was writing it for at least a month. If he had that much time to use on a document, he certainly had even more time to spend on preparations. He wasn't a watched man, after all, he could go anywhere he wants and do whatever he desires.
Good call.. Democratic Underground is holding him up as a folk hero after reading his manifesto.

Why do I think I’ve just walked into a novel by Vince Flynn or Matt Bracken?
