Federal employees are still paid WELL ABOVE what non federal employees earn for doing similar duties.
And federal employees in favored locations such as the DC metropolitan area, San Francisco and New York are paid WELL ABOVE other federal employees in the REST OF THE UNITED STATES.
Of course, the federal government has FEDERAL EMPLOYEES who conduct studies that always conclude that federal employees are underpaid compared to non governmental employees. It’s all BS—the pay and benefits of federal CIVILIAN employees is the place to start any “cuts”. As a minimum, keep the pay freeze going and phase out “locality pay” that benefits in areas such as the DC metro area. Those would be just for starters.
