...To that end, the National Executive Board directed its committees to further engage representatives of Scoutings membership and listen to their perspectives and concerns. This will assist the officers work on a resolution on membership standards....

Use the time to target any leaders who need to be purged.
Get rid of the weak kneed.
Need a purge to rid the BSA of homos, on all levels. Let ‘em start their own group, and GTH out of Scouting!
Distance is your friend. Let things cool down a bit. Reason this out. Catholics and Mormons = Scouting.
No need to purge. Instead, some enterprising young homosexual activist just needs to create his own scouting organization that allows homosexuals in. Problem solved.
Let all those corporations fund that scout organization. Let parents of boys that want homosexual leaders for their sons go to that scouting organization.
There’s no need to violate the Right to Free Association.
they need to change the leadership that’s pushing this
I agree!
What? The BSA didn’t jump when Obama said to jump?
Good.
Are you his guardian or something?
Par for the course. Has been for years with BSA.
Not quite, its complicated. lol
Agreed.
This is something on which Free Republic could do a lot of good. Let's find the national council representatives and lobby, as well as helping others lobby.
A significant number of Boy Scout troops are connected with churches. As much as I hate to admit it, the Mormons, who use Scouting as their youth organization, could be very helpful. I'm pinging Jeff Head, a longtime Mormon Freeper, to see if he has any specific advice on ways the LDS could help fight the homosexual agenda in Scouting.
I'm no friend to Mormonism, but on this point regarding homosexuality and Scouting, I think the LDS, evangelical Protestants, traditional Roman Catholics and secular conservatives are on the same side.
A final point: I'm not so sure the decision to postpone the vote was a bad decision. As Freepers, we routinely say we need to let the grassroots make key decisions, and have bottom-up input rather than top-down hierarchies. Scouting did just that -- rather than making a snap decision, they let the broadest representative assembly of Scouting make this decision, and gave them enough time to debate. That seems reasonable to me.
Allowing this to happen will doom the Scout program.
even seriously considering this could cripple the BSA
Our Troop has had a policy for many years that was put into place after a single, unaffiliated man volunteered to be our Scoutmaster when no one else wanted to take the job. A few months later, he was caught trying to molest a Scout (the kid fought like hell and made a lot of noise, which saved him).
The policy is pretty simple:
Parents and guardians can come on any campout.
New leader applicants must be affiliated with a Scout (father, brother, uncle, guardian, Big Brother, etc.) and proof of such affiliation must be presented to the Troop Committee.
New Leader applicants must undergo a background check immediately (we pay for this, not the BSA). A new Leader Applicant must then camp with us for at least a year and must complete Assistant Scoutmaster training. At that point, the Scoutmaster either recommends or does not recommend the New Applicant to the Troop Committee. If no one on the TC has a problem, then the New Applicant meets with the Charter Organization Rep (the pastor of the church) to seek his clearance. The pastor grills the applicant during this session and looks for “sincerity” above all else. If the New Applicant passes, he then fills out the registration form and we sign it and it goes to Council for another background check. If OK, he/she then is registered.
In the last 30 years, we have not had a gay leader or any incidents of inappropriate behavior.
As for Scouts, we abide by the Scouting rule that no leader can talk about anything sexual with a minor. If a Scout tells a SM or ASM that they are sexually actively and gay or having sex with their girlfriend, it instantly becomes a “counseling event” and we bring in the parents. If, in front of their parents, the Scout admits or tells us they are sexually active, whatever orientation, they are immediately removed from the Troop. If we are presented with external proof of a Scout being sexually active (a pregnant girlfriend), they are out. We have had this happen few times over the past 12 years I have been with the Troop.
We have over 120 Eagle Scouts on our alumni list. Some of them are now openly gay. We just ignore it. But, even our aged-out Eagle Scouts must reapply as a New Leader Applicant if they want to camp with the Troop or become a leader.
I imagine if National passes their “unit rights” rule, we will publish the above and carry on as usual.

I want to know names of corporate sponsors that are pushing this. Because if the Scouts go to the dark side, I want to know who to boycott forever.
