Young Republicans in Iowa are still split on the institution of marriage being extended to gay people. But there is a growing consensus among college-aged GOPers that in order to win elections, the party's focus should be elsewhere.
Gay and lesbian campus groups and College Republicans haven't exactly been friendly to one another over the years, in Iowa or the rest of the country.
But there are signs that with this coming generation the trend could be changing, and for the Republican Party that could be critical.
"As a young Republican, I see where the partys coming from with the idea of traditional marriage, but I cannot support that aspect of the platform," said Victoria Hurst, president of the University of Northern Iowa College Republicans.
She said she supports many Republican ideals, but not the party's stance on gay marriage.
"America has bigger problems than who can and cannot marry; it is time to move beyond this and focus on bigger problems, like the federal deficit and unemployment rates," she said....
A Gallup Poll in November of young voters aged 18-29 found that 73 percent support same-sex marriage. Almost a third of Republicans surveyed support gay marriage.
The Republican Party has been losing the battle for young voters in a convincing way the last three elections....
Libertarian-leaning Republicans and Independents who might otherwise vote Republican for fiscal reasons have considered the opposite ticket, or voted third party, Ginty said, as they feel that the government should not be in the business of restricting freedoms for anyone....

I didn't know Catholic priests were agents of the leftist agenda. Huh.
(Cheap joke, but when you lob a fat slow one over the plate like that you can't really expect me to resist.)
>> Words to live by.
Let’s see... yesterday you were a gun hating troll; today you’re a faggot loving troll.
I think you need to find a forum more in line with your interests.
It's notable that the same lame argument is offered in both cases ("They have equal rights; they're allowed to marry a person of the [same race | opposite sex] just like we are.")
That is moronic. McCain's support before Palin was nothing, the crowds were energized by Palin. Right up until McInsane started talking up how good a Prez Obama would be.
Did you see that study posted yesterday about how viewing porn made you more excepting of homosexuality, and gay marriage?

What’s there to defend?
The post is about whether young voters support gay marriage. It’s overwhelmingly obvious that they do.
And it’s well established that old people are going to die soon, and young voters are more likely to vote as they get older (and unlike views on taxes, etc, it’s unlikely their views on gay marriage will change much).
I don’t see any plausible method to persuade young voters to change their minds (and certainly the rhetoric seen on a typical FR thread won’t do it - at the first “perversion” or “fornication” mention they’ll tune out or start laughing at you.)

Catholics are not the ones wanting to normalize pedophilia
Ignoring that such supports exist risk becoming morally unmoored and vulnerable to corruption as are the democrats.
Which just supports the main thrust of the article. Young people watch a lot of porn. It's impossible to stop young people from watching porn, or persuade them not to do it.
In fact, were it not for Team Romney, it would have
been President McCain; but the backstabbing team would not permit THAT.
The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"Im told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palins people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romneys former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.
"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off .hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."
"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"
"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"
"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"
"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"
"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"
You got that right. If not for Palin Mccain would have been embarrassed. He was enbarrassing anyway with his saying Obama would be a great President.Doesn’t really matter though. Mccain is the power behind the RINO throne.
If you are right about the youth, then there is no hope for this country.
Palin was the only reason I bothered to vote in 08.
These so called “moderates” need to hike up their big girl panties and march on over to the democrat camp and moderate them. The republicans have been moderated into a coma and these Rovetards are pinching the feeding tube. If they really cared about moderation they would direct their fire at the democrats who are happily goose stepping into full on fascism.
The ozone is now thick with this one.
Precisely the problem with today's GOP. Neither do they see any method to lead or to persuade anyone on anything. They're just goin' with the flow.
Sheesh.

actually young voters are used to lying or concealing. The current under 24, yes an anecdote, that I have seen just ridicule the absured pro-homosexual teachers and PC teachings. They generally view all homosexuals as just potential molesters.
No one was excited by McCain and I do not recall these liberturdians coming out for him until after he lost and reverted back to his RINOism
