President Obama discussed plans to visit Israel this spring during a recent phone call with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the White House said Tuesday.

Obama brought up the travel plans during a Jan. 28 call with Netanyahu, National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor said. “The start of the president’s second term and the formation of a new Israeli government offer the opportunity to reaffirm the deep and enduring bonds between the United States and Israel and to discuss the way forward on a broad range of issues of mutual concern, including Iran and Syria," Vietor said.
The trip would be Obama's first to Israel since the summer of 2008, when he visited as the Democratic presidential candidate.

Any bets he doesn't combine this with his spring trip to Africa. Why fly once when you can fly twice. Wonder where Michelle will be traveling. Where else can he go this spring, and why is he wasting winter on places like Las Vegas and Minnesota when the Carribean is calling. Since he likes warm weather, I wonder why he doesn't visit the Carribean on occasion.
