Starting in the 60’s things have gotten ‘progressively’ worse and I’d put a lot of it on weed and psychedelics. At this point I’d say it’s barely worth a damn. Booze has been around through the ups and downs and doesn’t change someone’s personality in the same way.

Have you been around many drunks?

You're right - it's likelier to turn the user violent.

Alcohol is by far the most Dangerous and damaging DRUG in the History of the World, there is simply no comparison to any of the so-called “controlled substances”. Out of all the Mood altering substances ever unleashed onto mankind ALCOHOL is the ONLY ONE THAT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL. And yes I am speaking from Personal Experience.

Thank you for saying that, I have maintained that position for years.

Now prepare for a bombardment of ridicule by those who dogmatically maintain pot is less dangerous than alcohol.

Maybe that is because both were prohibited by prohibition, but only one was made legal again.

The consequence of booze on car wrecks and domestic violence far outweighs marihuana...which is granted not harmless

I do agree that as a former tripper from that era that LSD etc did impact at least the noisy part of the generation.

But if you look at the radicals and leaders they were mostly fairly rich well off Communist families (or not)Jewish urban and suburban young people who were pre boomers rather than boomers...nearly 30 years old leading around college uninformed who had a fear of the draft

One could blame secular progressive Judaism or Communist indoctrination same as pot by your logic..or the draft.

Or the music...or jazz or beatniks

and so forth

Freepers don't get weed...I haven't smoked regularly since 1980 but today (I'm in Dixie) nearly all pot smokers I know over 25 are conservatives.

It could be geographies though.

I go up north and 40-60% of whites I know are liberals and most do not smoke dope.

Not so down here..stoners like the rest of us..trend right..in my homestate whites voted GOP 88-90%

But I do agree on the influence of the dreaded ergot...no question..it influenced not just kids but folks all through the culture

I knew it even then...so did folks like Huxley and Hoffman even earlier

but with age you realize the folly..admittedly...there is no more genuine wisdom in 10 hours of Owsley than in a bottle of Jack....but no doubt a lot more comfort in the latter

I do not recommend LSD.

Pot has been around for thousands of years, it did not start in the ‘60s.

You need to talk to a drunk's wife and family before you make such a sweeping statement.
