I think if you look at what La Pierre really said he is advocating a private task force sponsored by the NRA to coordinate the use of retired local LEO’s and military people along with local security personnel not a federal school police force.

“But what the N.R.A. proposed would expand the use of armed officers nationwide and make greater use of not just police officers, but armed volunteers — including retired police officers and reservists — to patrol school grounds”

This issue was addressed back in the '90's and the funding was approved under the Clinton administration........Obviously the monies have gone elsewhere........
