As I recall, one got a “turn it in or bad things will happen” letter. He replied with a “come get them” letter. They raided the address. He had moved to Montana; the new occupants were not amused.
I remember that. Didn’t get much press at the time. After all the medai don’t want to show the perfect government making mistakes.
