I did read that he ran a “really right ship”, back then. Rizzo’s Philly was a lot tamer, when he ran the place, in the 70s/80s. The mob usually kept better lids on their ruled domains, Detroit, Oakland et al excepted.
I’m not convinced our cities wouldn’t be better off with the old timey mob running them.
