Harry Reid: Ive Got Lots of Guns February 4, 2013 By Matt Cover
(CNSNews.com) Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) told ABCs This Week Ive got lots of guns, when asked his views on the Second Amendment and efforts by some of his Democratic colleagues to enact stricter gun control measures.
I've got lots of guns, Reid told host George Stephanopoulos in an interview Sunday. I had guns from the time I was a little boy. I don't hunt anymore, but I did.
Reid said he now keeps his guns for sentimental reasons. The top Senate Democrat also noted that his father used a gun to commit suicide and that he had carried a gun as a Capitol policeman.
I was a police officer. I carried a gun. That's what I did to put myself through law school. My dad killed himself, shot himself with a gun, committed suicide, so I know a lot about guns. And there are things that I think we need to do.
Reid said that he would allow Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) to bring legislation through the Senate Judiciary Committee on gun control. He also said hed allow a vote on Sen. Dianne Feinsteins (D-Calif.) bill to ban so-called assault weapons or allow it as an amendment to Leahys bill.
However, Reid did not say he supported either piece of legislation, saying I dont know when asked if hed vote for them.
Oh, I don't know. I frankly and she [Sen. Feinstein] knows I haven't read her amendment. I didn't vote for the assault weapons [ban] last time because it didn't make sense, but I'll take a look at it, he said.

Finally, something Reid and I have in common. I get sentimental about the Constitution, about personal freedom, about our God-given rights, and about my family's safety. I keep guns for sentimental reasons too!
I also keep guns to punch holes in targets and for hunting, but I don't get sentimental about either of those activities.
