GOP: With big Latino vote, Rubio would win presidency (Survey: Rubio would get 48% of Hispanic vote)

He's already being treated like the 2016 GOP presidential front-runner, and now there is another reason Republicans are excitedly buzzing about Florida Sen. Marco Rubio: He alone would reverse the party's slide among Hispanic voters.
A new nationwide poll from JZ Analytics found that Rubio would get 48 percent of the Hispanic vote, about twice what Mitt Romney won in 2012. Republican strategist told Secrets that a win among Latino voters that big would assure Rubio the presidency, since he would also likely keep the regular GOP base.
"If he does that good, then he's the next president," said a senior GOP official. "It makes him The Man, I guess," added the official.
The poll, provided to Secrets, did not indicate why Hispanics like Rubio, other than his story growing up in Florida as a child of Cuban parents is well known. He has also joined the bipartisan Senate effort to reform immigration.

The Liberal MSM wants Rubio as the GOP nominee because they know Rubio is a closet liberal. If they cannot beat him...they will influence him
And, he is Cuban American.....which does not sell well in Mexican-Amer, Dominican, Puerto Rican, and Central Amer communities. He is also very “white”.....which is an issue among darker skinned Hispanics. Skin color is a big in many Hispanic families

Rubio’s parents did not begin their immigration and naturalization process until more than four years after Marcos birth, more than fifteen years after they took residence in the U.S. Therefore, they could not confer upon Marco that which they did not possess at his birth, U.S. Citizenship.

The United States generally follows this rule.
Authority for this rule is found in the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which states that: “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”
The Supreme Court endorsed the universality of this rule in U.S. v. Wong Kim Ark 169 U.S. 649, 18 S. Ct. 4561142 L. Ed. 890 (1898). The constitutional rule of jus soli has been construed generously and almost always has endowed all persons born in the United States with United States citizenship.

Rubio’s parents were not citizens at the time of his birth....and with the legal precedent already set in about 80 different court cases....to be natural born one must also have citizen parents at time of birth
Note that the ones who inaccurately claim Marco Rubio is eligible are the same ones that fought against conservatives on Obama Eligibility.

Beg to differ Perdogg.
An anchor baby i.e. Rubio, is a child born in the U.S.A. to parents who are not legal U.S. Citizens AT THE TIME OF THE CHILD’S BIRTH. (Rubio’s parents, by his own admission, did not receive benefit of naturalized citizenship until he was four years old). Under the 14th Amendment and subsequent immigration and naturalization laws, the U.S.A. grants that child naturalized citizen rights at birth and then that child becomes an anchor upon which the foreign parents can apply and usually receive naturalized citizenship as immigrant Americans.
While our immigration and naturalization laws currently offer general citizen rights to anchor babies like Rubio, born in the U.S. to foreign parents, the 14th Amendment has no bearing at all upon the definition of Natural Born Citizen or the Article II constitutional qualifications for the office of President and Vice President.
A citizen is either naturalized under the 14th or Natural Born to legal citizen parents, exempt from all immigration and naturalization laws and amendments. It is not possible to be both.

Well, I’m glad to hear that. Unfortunately, there are quite a number of FReepers who are one or two issue voters who would not vote for any Republican under any circumstances even if they agreed with them 75% of the time.
All we need are enough people like these in the USA and we’d have Democrats in power for as long as we can stand it.

Rubios parents were not citizens at the time of his birth....and with the legal precedent already set in about 80 different court cases....to be natural born one must also have citizen parents at time of birthI think I will go with the opinion of constitutional scholars like Mark Levin on this one. Rubio was born in Miami, Florida. That makes him a natural born citizen. The citizenship status of his parents is irrelevant. The courts are not going to agree with you any more on Rubio than they did on Obama. Rubio is constitutionally eligible to hold the office of President (or VP). Period. The end.

How did a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual agenda, creator of Romney/Obama care, Massachusetts liberal cult member, who in 20 years of running won a single election, and was rejected for reelection in that office, become the republican candidate?

I agree. I’m Hispanic myself, but that’s not the reason I like Rubio. He is the most gifted articulator of conservative principles since Reagan. The probably with Romney was that he wasn’t “fluent in the language of conservatism” since he was a big-government, establishment Republican at heart. Rubio captures the possiblilty in America as an opportunity society vs. the Democrat vision of equalized misery and government control as the “new normal”.
