The flu holds the record on killing large numbers of people, but it's a piker on the percentage side of the equation. Hanta virus kills 95% of those it infects. Smallpox does 25% to 75% depending on the health of the population being attacked ~ but the survivors end up with imunity to another attack.

If you read deeply enough into the CF literature you find that there are researchers who believe that yersinia pestis kills 100% of those who do not carry a mutant CF gene. Why it doesn't kill all those folks in East Asia is simple ~ it is so virulent and deadly, it kills its human host population before it can spread very far physically.

BTW, there are those who appear to carry a natural immunity to flu. They just never get it. No one knows how many there are.

Is Europe still rat-infested like it once was? And what percentage of Europeans have the CF mutant gene?
