We (NRA) would be at 10M members if it weren’t for Wayne Lapierre. Can’t they find somebody (anybody) else to be the face for the NRA? Geez, talk about tone deaf....
I think Wayne LaPierre and the NRA have been maintaining a “middle of the road” approach. I mean, they endorsed Dingy Harry, for cryin’ out loud.
This issue, however, has encouraged them to draw a hard line in the sand. They are, first and foremost, an advocate of the second amendment. They seem to be hardening their stance.
But you’re right - they could use a better spokesman. Like Sheriff Mack or Judge Napolitano. Somebody that understands freedom and understands how the various original amendments fit together to enumerate our natural rights and freedoms.
