First names are not necessarily indicative either, such as, Abraham Lincoln.

My wife's grand mother's maiden name was Cohen, no, she wasn't Jewish either.

I'm presently reading in the Torah (I'm not Jewish either).

I got interested recently when someone posted a picture with a caption that "the Hebrews came out of Egypt armed", this doesn't jibe with the Old Testament version, so like a good little Baptist boy, I started studying to learn more.

It would be helpful if I could read the Hebrew text in the original language but I can't.

It’s a question that the bible text does not speak to. It’s possible that the now-written oral traditions of the Jews could furnish further details in some cases, but remember Jesus scolded the Pharisees, the custodians of these works, that they were getting it wrong.
