A goodly number of those thousands of families are illegal aliens who are not supposed to be eligible for government programs, so that’s why they can’t provide documentation. However, the taxpayers can keep providing free food, rent assistance, Medicaid etc. etc.

Don't know if they are. Unless things have changed in the last dozen years - and maybe they have and I just don't know - most of the illegals in Massachusetts were young Irish people. They weren't collecting anything from the state. They weren't paying taxes, but they weren't much of a drain either. I understood that most of them went home when the Irish economy was roaring.
