WHAT? ENGLISH is the ONLY language that the pledge should EVER be recited in. PERIOD!
Come now. I’m sure my great-grandfather when he first came to this country would have quite happily pledged his allegiance to our flag, and the Republic for which it stands, in his native Norwegian before he could pronounce the English pledge well enough to not be ashamed of his English and even before he was granted citizenship: when he chose to emigrate from Norway for family reasons, he chose to immigrate to the U.S. precisely because of his love for our republican form of government. His doing so would not on any account have been wrong. (Of course when he arrived, the words “under God” had not been included added.)
