Years ago, my town's two liberal selectmen proposed making it unlawful for anyone owning -- not necessarily carrying, just owning -- a weapon (gun, knife, ninja star [I am not kidding], sword, mace, etc.) from stepping foot on any town property "to create an atmosphere free from fear."

The selectmen's meeting came and the entire building was filled with very angry gun and knife owners that spilled out of the meeting room and into the hall and outside. The cowardly Libs on the board looked like they had crapped their pants/dresses. They turned white as they listened to attendees and their proposal vanished without a trace.
