Under the law you can use a ten round magazine but can’t fill it with more than seven rounds.

Well, speaking of the M1911A1, there are10-rd mags available, but cumbersome. So I use the 8-rd Mitchell or Chip McCormick stainless magazines, rather than the standard-issue old 7-rd steel ones (lanyard hook-loop old Army issue!). This gives a total of 9-rd for Condition 1 carry.
