When I used the Church as an example, I used its scandals and the massive amount those scandals cost it. I did not intend either to state or imply that it was encouraging such activity and did not intend to attack the Church. The frightful damage it suffered by allowing active homosexuals near youths is a compelling exmple of why not to do that.

True. However,the Church did not take the step that the boy scouts are doing here and devolving central authority to the troops. That’s the crucial difference. The Church took the opposite route in cleaning out the worst of it and replacing the local leadership. The Church did not change canon law to accommodate the perverts.

The Boy scouts have made a drastic mistake by not showing leadership on the national level. This is bad, very bad.
