Sometimes a citizen lawmaker dares to exercise such candor that the inside-the-Beltway crowd recoils in horror at the blatant honesty. Such was the case with Wisconsins own Senator Ron Johnson (R) this past week. Johnson captured attention with his tough questioning of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who appeared before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to finally answer questions about the Benghazi disaster of last September.
Clinton, demonstrating the cunning political acumen that propelled her and her husband so far on the national political stage, weaved a range of emotions into her carefully prepared opening statement. With her final months as Secretary of State clouded by the death of an American ambassador and a subsequent lack of honesty in dealing with the situation during a political campaign, Clinton had to present a strong showing to maintain future political opportunities.
Then Ron Johnson happened.
Refusing to accept Clintons scripted answers, Johnson pressed the Secretary for specific details of her involvement in the disaster and her Departments failure to protect one of its own. The exchange was contentious and tumultuous.
After the hearing, Johnson suggested to a reporter that Clinton was less than genuine in her appearance before the committee. What he suggested wasnt flattering, but it was true. As any candid political observer knows, the Clintons are masterful politicians who are able to fabricate and project an image that may not be genuine but is quite convincing.
For daring to question Hillary Clintons motives, Senator Johnson was named the person who had the Worst Week in Washington by the Washington Posts Chris Cillizza. Cillizza is a smart reporter, even if infected by the more liberal-leaning Potomac fever that taints a number in the nations political press corps elite, and his observations are often useful and insightful. But hes dead wrong on this one.
Ron Johnson may have felt the pressure to back off his statement and the Washington intelligentsia may have found his honesty woefully out of line. But what he said didnt only need to be said, it was true.
For far too long an incestuous atmosphere has pervaded the nations capitol. Establishment political figures in both parties have been given a pass by those who are supposed to be the watchdogs of the process. Instead of receiving the skepticism and vetting bestowed on others, these individuals and the Clintons are among them have been able to act with impunity expecting to never be held accountable.
Senator Johnsons questions at the hearing, and subsequent candor about the attitude of Secretary Clinton, are a refreshing breath of fresh air.
Washingtons self-confidence does not comport well with a nation that sees looming fiscal and economic challenges growing closer by the day. To fix the problems we face it is going to take more honest leadership than Washington is used to being comfortable with. Senator Ron Johnson is one of those leaders who is willing to ignore the status quo that got us to where we are, and provide the honesty we need.
Big difference; It was under this fool's watch that she and her department ignored multiple requests to the State Department for protection from continuing threats and actual violence but her department did not respond until all the water was over the dam.
And then Hillary had her deputy appear on five Sunday TV shows lying that it was not terror or pre-planned but a spontaneous riot incited by a TV trailer that no one knew of or had seen. Administration officials lied for weeks and still do not really admit to the obvious truth as proven by TV monitoring in real time. Meanwhile Hillary answered questions with assumption of responsibility that in fact attaches no consequences.
This evil regime has no honor and is deserving of no respect, only tossing these destroyers of America into the Potomac.
Is there a video of it?
Found it.
Sen. Johnson obviously doesn’t know he’s not supposed to ask tough questions of Hillary as it could make her look bad. What if Richard Nixon responded with “What difference does it make?”
4 men are dead, and she asks what difference does it make.
Washington Post:
“But on Sunday we said he had the Worst Week in Washington. Public Opinion has been set. Hillary can be President if she wants it and whoever questions her is a bully and a sexist. End of Story. That means you, future GOP challenger, especially you, Rand Paul. Tone it way down, like Mittens, McLame, Bush 43, Dull, and Bush 41.”
Whoever opposes 0bidenhill better learn how to turn the voters away from the national media.
What different does it make now doing a through investigation will only weaken the government.
After all they are all dead now.
Meh, he backed down after the Hill hysteria act...Clinton Rule #1: the best defense is a good offense, especially if you are a girl...
He should have followed up by nailing her to the wall on the “video” excuse and NOT calling it terrorism then lying to the American people then ending with, “Oh, that’s right, you Clintons are good at lying to the American people”.
That qualifies for “Man of the Week”
I agree. Once the person (or thing in this case) testifying goes orbital and blathering nonsense spewing out of her misshapen mouth, what must one do?
A good response from the Senator would have been “Mrs. Clinton, would you like a roll of super-absorbant paper towels? You seem to be foaming at the mouth.”
This butch bitch is totally incapable of stringing complete sentences together (much like the baboon in the White Hut); her delivery is short choppy and filled with “ers, uhs, you knows” and all the other fill-ins she uses. Her typical language is absolutely filthy. (As in: “fu-king jew bastard.”
Boy, I’m glad I’m not the only one who is annoyed by just how moronic this group sounds...with the “uhs”, “ers”, “gunnas”, “shuddas”, etc. I think they think they sound deliberative and measured...they just sound stupid, indecisive and slow....
But the American people want this kind of leadership so maybe it’s just me...
Am saving up to buy my own island.....
This Dog & Pony show was a disgrace with few exceptions, Rand Paul and Ron Johnson did as best they could with a witness who was having none of their facts....then there was the good cop-bad cop McCain, FOH, who asked 10 questions in one, obviously never expecting nor getting an answer...just despicable of both Clinton and McCain.
The Congressmen and Senators questioning thunder thighs are not very knowledgeable in interview/interrogation. I would give her 20 minutes before any decently trained Investigator had her twisted up and begging for mercy.
I’ve been thinking over the past four years about leaving and there are several nations that treat their population better than this central socialist government.
However, I have decided to stay and fight!
Un huh....she answered questions? I watched her defend the atrocious non-action taken by her and then wave off the deaths of four good men with the redundant, idiot assertion of "...four men are dead and we must do everything in our power to find out what happened...." or words to that effect....is it possible Ms. Clinton is not aware that is precisely what has been going on since the night of September 11, 2012? Apparently not as she and Obama are standing by their story about some video.................Hillery for president? Where? What planet? Bill did what last week?
You are right to remember Rand Paul’s turn..he aquitted himself well given the circumstances...Johnson just appeared to deflate after her tirade.
McCain...*sigh*....just *sigh*....
Well, if you will then I will too!
Rand Paul is winning me over big time. He seems to be the only one willing to tell the truth as he sees it.
