Jesus had animals around him when he was born...We are getting distanced from animals.
The relationship of love and kindness that animals bring is a positive for humans. It increases the respect for all living beings. I trust people who love animals much more than those who don’t.

“We are getting distanced from animals.”

Well....now there’s something nobody could ever accuse me of with a straight face.

;D

It’s one thing to like or love animals. I love animals. People with pets live longer. But animals aren’t people, they shouldn’t be valued more than people. Anthropomorphizing animals leads to behavioral problems (in the pet), because they are animals, not people. I also do not discount the work of therapy dogs. But there is a line that seems to be increasingly crossed as the pro-animal (and often anti-people) voice gets louder.
