WASHINGTON — Sen. Rand Paul told an off-the-record meeting of conservative donors and powerbrokers Monday that he plans to file a bill that would ban sending F-16 fighter jets to Egypt.
"The crowed loved it," a source told BuzzFeed.
Last year, Lockheed Martin delivered 20 F-16 fighter jets to Egypt as part of $1.3 billion in military aid from the U.S. government, The New York Times reported.
Paul has expressed concern for the practice in the past — but his remarks via Skype to the so-called "Monday Meeting" in New York City showed even firmer support by the Kentucky senator for policies that might cater to Jewish voters, as well as Evangelical groups that are staunchly pro-Israel.
Paul's role in the meeting came as a surprise to attendees: Sen. Mike Lee was slated to be the sole featured speaker, but was held up in Washington by a vote to approve the last wave of Hurricane Sandy relief funding, which he opposed. When Lee Skyped in to the meeting, he invited Paul, Sen. Tim Scott and Sen. Ted Cruz to make cameos appearances.

Won’t matter one iota to them. They live over here, not over there...
This sale is not nearly as bad as it sounds here.
They cannot possibly keep those F16s up and running without US (Export controlled) technical support and spare parts.
In 1979 the Iranians Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini took over from the Shah which included many F16s but they couldnt use them without US support.
Russians can sell them fighters but not military parts and support for these fighters. They are worthless without American support.
I bet this is to keep the US defense industry alive in face of coming cuts.
Now this is one kind of “Arms Control” i can get behind!

Heck we wouldn’t sell Helium to the Nazis—to make the Hindenburg Zeppelin safe, why would we give F-16s to Egypt to destroy Israel? At very least, lets talk it over, before we hand out the jets to the Neo-Nazi Muslim Brotherhood. whats next? f-18s to Iran?
Good point, this article calls it ‘military aid’. Others call it a ‘gift’. Time will tell how Egypt acts after getting these much like with Libya.
They wouldnt have much luck in using these against Isreal though for reasons I posted in that prior comment.

The only megaphones are owned by liberals in the MSM. It's very difficult for us to 'publicly argue' with them when our voices can't be heard... Thank God for FreeRepublic.... and the precious few other places our voices can be heard.
