The leader of a national gay-rights group says he’s coming out–as a friend of Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy.

“I’ve gotten to know Dan, he’s gotten to know me. He’s shared concerns about young people, about Chick-fil-A being used for certain purposes,” Shane Windmeyer, executive director of Campus Pride, told ABC News.

SNIP

In July, Equality Matters examined tax forms and found that in 2010 the restaurant chain had donated over $1.9 million to “anti-gay causes.” In September, the restaurant chain pledged to stop donating to anti-gay groups. Windmeyer says those donations stopped in 2011.

“Don Cathy has declined to support political agendas that are militantly anti-gay”

Who are you calling militant? Militantly anti-gay? Who? The Pope? People quoting the Bible? Billy Graham and his groups?

Why do you insult pro-marriage groups like that? It sounds like Don Cathy and Chick-Fil-A management are chickening out, to coin a phrase. Sad.

It’s “sad” only if it’s true in my book.

For those of you in Rio Lindo, “militancy” implies a bit more than vocal opposition. Blacks swinging a billy club outside a polling location in some panther uniform with a cocked cap appearing to be threatening is more than vocal opposition, it’s an intimidating show of implied force, contrary to the kind but firm approach of the Pope, and Cathay against not the gay as a person, but the behavior, with vocal opposition.

You people are sure oddly eager to lay eggs in the ABC basket, before defending a Christian employer. Maybe you’ll pull out an oversized spotted cow to fit your oversized outrage.

The point is the CEO made good use of credulity. Talk a good game and let the rubes buy even more chicken burgers. Profit.

Militantly anti-gay? What is that? By “militantly,” do you mean with integrity, or using deadly force? By “gay” do you mean happy, or engaging in homosexual activity?

Most conservatives wouldn’t describe homosexual behavior as happy and gay. Most conservatives wouldn’t describe righteous opposition to the militant homosexual agenda as militant.

Question...does ceasing donations to one pro-family organization, but continuing to give to other pro-family organizations mean that you have given up your principles? It’s kind like if I quit going to one Baptist church and join another Baptist church, I’m still a Baptist?

I think that’s what is going on here. Chick-Fil-A simply prefered to focus their resources to WinShape foundation...which they have more of an influence on...

They are applying rule #12 here to cut off support to both the organization and to Dan Cathy personally. Most Chick fil a supporters who read the propaganda story will think Chick fil-a is waffling and stop supporting them. It reads like some sort of love letter but if you read carefully, the story says that Dan has not changed his views (about halfway in)

RULE 12: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions.

And of course rule #8 applies too..

RULE 8: “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new.
