Violent extremism is at its highest level in Europe since World War II and is becoming the continent's top security threat, the European Union's executive body said Monday.
In a speech on the eve of talks on how to detect and prevent extremism, the EU's commissioner for home affairs Cecilia Malmstroem urged the EU "to stand up ... and protect our values that are now being challenged in many countries in Europe," AFP reported.
"We see a growth of extremism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, hatred and nationalism," she said.
"Not since World War II have extreme and populist forces had so much influence on the national parliaments as they have today. In some countries even neo-Nazis have been elected," she added.

Need another line: In some countries even Muslims who believe in the death and subjugation of infidels have been elected.
In under 40 years, Muslims will the majority in France and Germany.
Any way this can end well? Nope. None.
We’ve just had a Nazi elected president -twice!! The second election was proof that 52% Americans have descended to the lowest common denominator.
Either the muslims will completely take over or there will be a very violent and bloody genocide or both....
People grow up, they live with people with common heritage who share religion and language. There are jobs even for those with little or no skills. Suddenly in a humane gesture your elected officials throw open the borders and the kids in school with your kids no longer all speak the same language.The have a different religion and their parents are grabbing all the easier jobs to get even if they are low paying.
Suddenly the world around you has changed and in the spirit of humanity you’re supposed to shut up and tolerate it.
Just what sort of reaction did the damn Euro weenie politicians expect in reaction to their policies?
Values? Values?! As far as I can tell, the only thing godless socialism values is power.
No wonder a panic is beginning to set in.
Will the native white Germans allow themselves to be subjugated by an immigrant population?
Last time this didn’t end up well for Europe and the rest of the world.

Liberal code for: the average person is waking up to the grave problem that all these Muslim immigrants present to indigenous European cultures and people are starting to discuss how Europe can stay European.
