Connecticut's retail gun sales, mirroring a national trend, have been so busy that some store owners are keeping waiting lists for some firearms and noting dwindling inventory for others.
"We're out of about everything," said Bob Farr, the owner of Connecticut Firearms and Tactical in Orange.
He said that demand and orders picked up right after the Dec. 14 shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. "[The manufacturers] won't even give us a ship date."
In December, Connecticut gun stores sold more than 19,400 firearms, according to data from the Connecticut State Police, up 71 percent from the previous year.

May be this is how the economy has come up lately?
Suppot gun makers. Buy RGR stock and grab a mini 14 and 10/22 if you can find one!
BUMP
I like to bump thread titles that get the scumbag Democrat lefties’ panties in a twist.
There was a lib at work the other day that could not believe the reaction to firearm bans. He could not believe that sales skyrocketed. In his opinion, sales should have plummeted and people should be turning in their guns. We didn’t even know where to begin explaining things so we just said, most communists think like you and moved on to a different subject. Can’t argue with a sheep.
Up by 71% is just a bit more than ‘brisk’ in my book.
Between Christmas and New Year’s, I went to the local Cabela’s in East Hartford. Looked like they only had handguns (which require a CCW in this state), shotguns and bolt-action rifles.
It was PACKED. Lots of slightly nervous looking soccer parent-types. I just got some more ammo and left.
“Brisk”?
Seems like a bit of an understatement.
Where I live gun buying has reached a point that they are now being donated to the unemployed but worthy individuals so they may participate standing up for 2A rights.
Pretty soon there may even be gun libraries where a person can check out their firearm for a week, they return it and can check out a different one and so on.
Or better an Express Lube drive through, while you enjoy your favorite cappuccino your AR is lovingly cared for in an ultrasonic cleaning tank, inspected, lubed and returned in less than 20 minutes, or its free.
Precisely.
Sometimes you have to call to mind the old Chinese proverb:
"Only a fool argues with a fool."
