I am in favor of dropping the EBT cards and just sending survival food to homes that need it. If someone has a food allergy (the only argument against this plan that I have heard), then let them check a box that they have a food allergy and they will get a substitute.

Yeah, I am a hard arse, but this plan is better than our government collapsing and these moochers not getting anything.

Prior to food stamps people reported to welfare offices and picked up commodity packages of flour, sugar, cheese, beans, rice peanut butter etc. We should return to that. If you are too stupid to cook beans and rice then you starve.

I saw those bulk commodities when I was young but already they were being phased out for food stamps. EBT cards are even more abused

having the gub'mnt make up the survival paks will cost many times more than just using the ordinary services of the grocery stores. They are much cheaper than gub'mnt!

Then, think of the UPS parcel costs ~ WOW!

I think the current system that has the welfare folks go to the store to pick up their own stuff is probably as cheap as it can get.

If they need food they should have to go to a central place to pick up “survival food”as you called it. REAL FOOD not prepared. If they complain that they don’t know what to do or how to prepare it tell them there’s a cookbook included for them. I HATE standing behind them in the grocery store seeing what they buy.

Agreed. It’s hard to abuse a ration of rice, beans, flour, peanut butter and some veggies and fruit. And such a diet would be motivation to get a job and work, or grow a garden or find another option.
