“I thought your vote would be secret, known only to you. This business owner is only firing blabbermouths, right?
If they can’t keep their mouths shut, the might not be doing your business any good.”
Indeed. I once had liberal bosses and I never discussed politics in any way, form or shape around them. I was there for the paycheck I needed and nothing else.
“Although I thought I could guess, during my Dad and Mom’s lives, I never knew what their votes were, and neither probably knew what the other’s was, IIRC.”
A different time period. Earlier generations were taught to value having a secret vote. Today’s narcissic “look at me!” generation are taught to post every thought and opinion they have on Facebook or something similar. After all, they find themselves and their views fascinating, why shouldn’t everyone else? ;)
Sidenote: I remember a news story from the last election where some liberal Obama teacher was asking her students who they would vote for if they could. One student said his parents voted for McCain and she berated him for it. I thought what business is it of hers to intrude like that?
Wrong. In employment at will states an employee can be fired at any time for any reason without notice, unless (i) due to religious, sex, age, race or other protected class, or (ii) in violation of an employment contract. Political persuasion is not a protected class. Further, the first amendment protection of free speech only applies to government action. In the private sector there is no such thing as free speech.
The one we left behind is the most useless of the entire production company. He’s our token lib and doesn’t affect our overall operations.
thanks for the bright spot in the darkness!
