If I’ve got my facts straight, GEICO was started during or after WW2 for govt and military people. The founder, or at least major owner, was Cafritz, of DC. He was at my wedding. Apparently a nice man who ran a good business and his wife was also highly respected.
However, later his son Conrad took over. A real Jewish leftist liberal married to a black nationalist woman (she liked to look like a Qtip). They were the Liberal Left establishment in DC. Eventually they divorced. She was a nasty piece of work (believe her correct name was Peggy Cooper).
Don’t know who runs the business today, but it was always a funder of the Democrats, crooks and all (in DC politics, you automatically assume that most leading Democrats are crooks, not that they are honest.)
You’ve got it about right. I was with them in the 70s and 80s while I was enlisted. Went to flight school in 81 and joined USAA. Been with USAA ever since.
