My entire point was that it's not realistic.
Here is a link to a very well written article on the issue of fraternization. The point is that no level of military code or discipline can stop human nature. Put members of the opposite sex together in any organization and there’s going to be fraternization. Put them in situations where they are away from their spouses, facing constant danger or long stretches of boredom, and human nature will trump discipline. The most intriguing part of the article is to Tito’s strict policy against fraternization in his Yugoslav army during the war, where the penalty was death. There were apparently dozens of his troops executed for this offense. If people are willing to risk death in exchange for some human affection in a war zone, then lesser punishment is not going to have a major effect.

No; I haven’t missed your point. I think women will be a hindrance in any form of combat more stresful than sitting in a truck and pushing buttons.
My point is more fundamental: I care about the damage to our culture. Looking at what we’ve become, the (in)effectiveness of women in combat is irrelevant when this country is no longer worth fighting for.
