The House of Representatives authorized a suspension of the nations debt limit through mid-May, delaying a default on the governments obligations that would have taken effect in February.
The GOP-controlled House voted 285 to 144 to comfortably pass a three-month extension in the governments borrowing authority just as Senate Democratic leaders suggested they would take up and pass the legislation as soon as they could.
The vote early Wednesday afternoon by the House would forestall a default on the national debt. The Treasury Department had warned that the government would exhaust its authority to borrow to finance its existing obligations by the middle of February.

After 3 years they finally got the Senate (Reid) to commit to offering a budget.
........................................
That’s an insult to pu$$ys everywhere!
Even cats have more nads that the Boner Losers Club.
And then Barry came along and promised no new taxes OF ANY KIND to anyone making over $250,000 a year....
and then proceeded to pass ObamaCare...a gigantic TAX...especially on the middle class.
Funny how those double-standards work, eh?
Except that I get less of my paycheck, what did the ‘fiscal cliff’ thing do? Hey House, that’s some good leverage you got there.
The last straw for me was the Romney nomination(by the MSM and the Dhimmicrat Party). And the subsequent loss in November.
Time for a new party.
You cannot even say they caved this time...
The GOPe are like a donkey at the Kentucky Derby that has backed into the starting gate.... they did not even start in the right direction.
“If they really wanted to solve this they wouldve required a budget first, before voting on the debt ceiling.”
Exactly! They just handed over any upper hand they may have had.
Does anyone have a link as to how they voted?
“Now with that out of the way the GOP can really focus on spending cuts. Let the battle begin!”
BwaaaaaHaaaaHaaaa!
If yes, then the REPUBLICANS just declared that Obama has the complete power of the purse for 3 entire months. A huge violation of the principles of the Separation of Powers, and probably an unconstitutional delegation of a power to the executive branch.
Are there any restrictions on Executive power here at all? What is going to stop the Obama Administration from borrowing as much money over the next three months so that he never needs to ask Congress for money ever again?
Most folks are a bit displeased here, but 4 months is only four months, geez!? Incremental means of forcing the Senate and President in taking responsibility is definitely fine by my account.
It’s highly symbolic for the Senate not to get paid and would win HUGE political points if they didn’t attempt to reconcile with the house. Am I getting something wrong? Inform me, please.
“The bill, which Republican leaders unveiled last week, would suspend the debt limit through May 18 and require both the House and the Senate to produce and pass a budget resolution in the meanwhile, with a deadline of April 15. If either chamber fails to pass a budget, its pay would be put into escrow No Budget, No Pay goes the newly-minted Republican slogan to describe this strategy.”
This is actually, finally, a SMART thing that the GOP is doing.
They are picking a fight with Harry Reid, and this needs to be done.
They are forcing the Senate to pass a budget.
“Our only hope, the GOP, cant seem to stop or even slow the monster growing in DC.”
I suggest re-examining your premises. The Vichy gop has no interest in stopping or slowing anything. They profit from the current “arrangement” and we’re fools if we think they’ll do anything that endangers that.
This is a one party system, and the Vichy gop wing of that one party has it’s part to play in keeping conservatives relatively quiet and complacent.
“Are there any restrictions on Executive power here at all? What is going to stop the Obama Administration from borrowing as much money over the next three months so that he never needs to ask Congress for money ever again?”
You’ve already answered your own questions.
The gop. Our Conservative Friends.

What can be accomplished by creating another party that cannot be accomplished by taking over the GOP?
“Time for a new party. “
I think it’s time to go galt. The majority of Americans now believe in the free lunch.
Wrong. Put the pom-poms down.
Yet again, reading the bill, they kick the can and will fund up to when the can stops rolling.
They could have easily been on all radio/shows, that would have them, and re-iterated, per LAW, all debts are paid first...there is NO default.
No, the GOPe caved (and water is still wet).
