The more important thing to note is that we did not have 24-7 talking head coverage of this killing.

As a result, there was no epidemic of parental paranoia and no demands that we "do something" no matter how stupid that something might be. (And I think that posting armed guards in every school is every bit as stupid and useless as banning 30 round mags)

Armed guards and locked steel doors will certainly work. They may kill the guard first but that is an occupational hazard.
