For her to introduce this as a separate bill means nothing, because everyone knows it would never pass as such. It’s a PR stunt.

If the Democrats were serious, and they might be, they will insert gun control language into unrelated “must pass” legislation, in the middle of the night on Friday, in a bill like the NDAA, which the Democrats have used twice now to insert repugnant and unconstitutional fascism.

Because they know that many Republicans will never vote against a defense bill, no matter what malignant cancer it contains.

The “indefinite detention of Americans by the military” law in the last NDAA is outrageously unconstitutional, far worse than the stupid “assault weapons and big magazines” bans. Yet Republicans didn’t stand up against it, so why expect they would stand against this?

My point is to look for the *real* villainy to arrive, not with a fanfare of drums and trumpets, but like a thief in the night, and importantly, a hundred or a thousand times worse than this bit.

Bottom line: the Democrats want full registration as a means to gun elimination, just as much as it exists in Australia and England. Anything they do right now is just a first step in that direction. They will take anything they can get, but they will always push to get more, until there is nothing left.

This is why it is so vital to slap them down, and hard, from the very start, because if they are serious, the Republicans will not stand in their way.

Senators in red states will not cooperate. It may get out of committee, but I doubt it will come up for a vote because it would not pass.

Only the safest blue state Democrats can ignore what’s going on out there: 250,000+ new members of the NRA, record sales of guns and ammo from coast to coast, major vendors pulling out of sports shows because of organizers’ bans on semi-automatics, an overload of phone lines and email boxes of Senators and Congressmen, the NRA and other 2nd Amendment advocacy groups threatening to support primary challengers to sitting politicians.

Obama and Dems have over reached and lost this one. He’ll issue a few EO’s to save face, but they will be nothing more than directives to better enforce existing laws.

Keep the pressure on the red state Senators.

The Bass Pro Shop near me (Great Lakes Crossing, Auburn Hills Michigan) normally has about 60 linear ft of handguns on display (3 shelves X 20 ft each). Saturday both bottom shelves were empty, and they had moved all the remaining pistols to the top shelf, which was also dwindling fast. There were about 30 people milling around the counter holding numbers, waiting their turn.

John Kass

Doctor probes teen on guns in the home - January 23, 2013 - In pro-gun-regulation Illinois — where politicians would rather play gun control politics than fight the murderous street gangs — a young man was admitted to the hospital.

Not a complete quote, but would also require grandfathered weapons to be registered under the National Firearms Act,background ck of owner, type(of gun),serial #,photo and fingerprint and dedicated funding for the ATF to implement registration.

If it passes, I predict a sweeping wave of boating accidents in the near future.

“Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s office confirmed that she will be introducing in the Senate Thursday a new version of the so-called assault weapon ban”

Where it will promptly be sent to committee and die. Dingy Harry has practically said he’s not going to bring gun control legislation to the floor of the Senate for vote as too many Dems will be at risk if they vote for it.

****This means that if a gun has just one item like a pistol grip or bayonet lug,*****

And how many people were killed with bayonets on the end of rifles?

Furthermore, instead of grandfathering in current firearms, she would create a national gun registry for the government to track lawful gun owners. Magazines would again be limited to 10 rounds.

So this is a rewrite of the Firearm Owners' Protection Act of 1986

Registration is prohibited.
