Big City Demographics - Hareidi Party Yahadut Hatorah Wins in Jerusalem

The hareidi-religious Yahadut Hatorah (Gimmel) party won a plurality in the elections in the city of Jerusalem. The party won 22.34% of the vote.
Likud Beytenu was in second place with 20.51%, Shas was third with 15.73%, Bayit Yehudi (Jewish Home) was fourth with 11.77%, and Yesh Atid was fifth with 6.86%.

Jerusalem is an example of big city demographics that trend to the Right. A religious party was ahead here. Yesh Atid which finished second in the national vote found itself relegated to fifth place in the Jerusalem vote. Big cities typically vote for the Left but a few places on earth are exceptions to the rule. Israel's capital is one of them.
